This Privacy Policy explains how Glug (“the App,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. Glug is operated by Olcay Kuk.

1. Summary
Glug is a personal water-tracking app. We collect the minimum data needed to deliver hydration reminders, track your drinks, and (optionally) sync your data across devices. We do not sell your data. We do not show third-party advertising. You can use the App entirely as a guest, without ever signing in.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
When you complete onboarding, you give us:
- Profile: sex (Female/Male/Other), birth year, body weight, activity level, optional first name
- Preferences: language, measurement units (metric/imperial), wake time, sleep time
- Daily goal: calculated from your profile, editable later
- Reminder settings: mode (adaptive/manual/off), frequency, sound choice, bedtime window
- Custom drink types (if you create any): name, color, hydration percentage
When you log drinks, you give us:
- Drink logs: drink type, amount in ml/oz, timestamp
If you choose to sign in (optional):
- Email address (for email/password sign-in)
2.2 Information generated automatically
- Device identifier: a random anonymous ID is generated on first launch and stored on your device. It lets us sync your data without requiring an account.
- Streak data: current streak, longest streak, freezes used (calculated from your drink logs)
- Purchase receipts: if you buy a subscription or in-app purchase, Apple App Store or Google Play sends us a receipt confirming the purchase
- Timezone: detected from your device
2.3 Optional location data
If you opt in to weather-based goal adjustments, the App requests your approximate device location once per day to fetch local temperature. Location is not stored on our servers — it is sent only to the OpenWeatherMap service (see Section 4) and discarded after the lookup.
2.4 What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera, or precise location history.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not use analytics SDKs that profile your behavior.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- Provide the App’s core function — calculating goals, logging drinks, scheduling reminders, showing history and streaks
- Sync your data across your devices when you sign in
- Process in-app purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play
- Send local notifications (scheduled on your device — we do not run a push server)
- Adjust your daily goal based on local weather (only if you opt in)
- Communicate with you if you contact support
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, automated decision-making, or advertising.

We do not share your data with any third party other than those listed above. We do not sell your data.
5. Where your data is stored
- On your device: drink logs, profile, and preferences are stored locally using MMKV and SQLite (or AsyncStorage on web).
- In the cloud: when you sign in or while you use guest sync, the same data is replicated to Supabase servers in the EU-West region (Ireland). Row-level security ensures only you can access your own data.
We retain your cloud data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account from within the App (Settings → Delete account), all your cloud data is permanently erased within 30 days.
6. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that grants similar rights, you have the right to:
- Access your data — visible at any time in the App’s History and Settings screens
- Correct your data — edit profile fields in Settings at any time
- Delete your data — Settings → Delete account. This is irreversible.
- Port your data — request an export by emailing support@glug.mobile (export feature in-app planned for a future release)
- Object to processing — uninstall the App at any time; if you have not signed in, no data leaves your device
- Withdraw consent — turn off weather adjustments, sign out, or delete your account at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

7. Children’s privacy
Glug is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in some EEA member states). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@glug.mobile and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards: TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for cloud data, row-level security on all cloud queries, and the principle of least privilege for our service accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. International data transfers
If you access the App from outside the EEA, your data may be transferred to and processed in the EEA (Ireland) or, for the third parties listed in Section 4, in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the App and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
